For Jodi Miller, Freeport is more than a city—it’s home. As a lifelong resident, Jodi’s love for this community drives everything she does. From raising her family here to serving as Freeport’s first female mayor, her commitment to making our city stronger, safer, and more connected is unwavering.

Jodi began her professional journey as a business owner when she purchased the historic Union Dairy in 2003. Under her leadership, the beloved 100-year-old institution flourished, increasing revenue by 700%, employing over 55 people, and becoming a hub for local families and visitors alike. This experience instilled in her a deep understanding of what it takes to grow something meaningful—hard work, a clear vision, and a commitment to community.

 

When she stepped into the role of Mayor in 2017, Jodi brought that same determination to City Hall. Over the past seven years, her leadership has delivered real, measurable results:

• Freeport secured over $30 million in funding for critical improvements in water infrastructure and road safety.

•  Local events like the Tutty Baker Festival were revitalized, bringing in over 35,000 visitors annually and nearly $1 million in tourism dollars.

• New crime prevention initiatives were implemented in collaboration with local and national leaders, enhancing public safety across our neighborhoods.

Jodi believes that leadership is about listening, learning, and acting. Her service extends beyond the mayor’s office: she has worked with organizations like the National League of Cities, Illinois Municipal League, and Rockford University’s Women in Leadership Program to amplify Freeport’s voice on state and national levels.​

As the President and Co-Founder of Freeport Festivals Inc., Jodi has championed community pride and connection through events that celebrate our city’s rich history and vibrant future.
